2017 SUMMER CHESS CAMPS

Information on chess camps in OKC, Tulsa, and beyond are listed on this page. If you know of a camp that’s not listed here, please let us know!

Pack a swimsuit for chess camp! This year’s Youth Chess OK ssunshine-free-sun-clipart-public-domain-sun-clip-art-images-and-graphics-4ummer chess camp will be held June 26 to 30 at Macklanburg Recreation Center, 2234 NW 117th Street in Oklahoma City. The rec center’s wonderful facilities, which include a basketball court, sprayground and outdoor park, will give our young chess players lots of opportunities for fun physical activity along with their chess learning and practice.

Players aged 7 to 14 will learn in small groups with players of similar skill level. At certain times, advanced kids will be encouraged to reinforce their skills by coaching new players. Activities will be led by Youth Chess OK’s head coach, USCF Expert Joe Veal, and Oklahoma’s top-rated female player, USCF Expert Veronika Zilajeva.

Our friends at Knights of the Square Table are hosting a new chess camp this year! Coach Joe Veal is leading the instruction at this camp, too, and the opportunities for “brain breaks” at their wonderful outdoor facility sound like a blast. For more information or to register, visit this link:
